Celebrating Six Years of Architectural & Wildlife Illustration

9/5/2025

My business has just turned 6 and I’m feeling incredibly grateful and excited to share some of the amazing illustration projects I’ve worked on over the last few years. From historic landmarks to rewilded ecosystems, each commission has been an opportunity to blend hand-drawn artistic detail with meaningful storytelling. If you’re looking for a bespoke architectural illustration or nature-inspired artwork, here’s a peek into some of the highlights.

Architectural Illustration Highlights

New York Public Library – 2025
My most recent architectural illustration commission is a special one – my first overseas collaboration! I was approached by the retail team at the New York Public Library to produce a hand-drawing of the main elevation of their flagship location; the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building on Fifth Avenue. I only finished this last week, so here is a sneak preview….. more details to follow.

St Paul’s Cathedral, London - 2024
Commissioned by St Paul’s Cathedral, I created a series of detailed architectural drawings, capturing the beauty of this iconic London landmark. Using a combination of historical references and contemporary photography, I produced four unique pieces including the South elevation plus three architectural details. Each drawing reflects the intricate craftsmanship of the building and the historic elegance that defines St Paul’s.

These illustrations have been turned into a collection of fine art prints, cards and even a beautiful scarf, which are now available in the Cathedral’s shop. The positive response, including praise from buyer Garry Shrimpton for the “truly stunning” attention to detail, has made this a rewarding project that bridges art, history, and architecture.

Waddesdon Manor - 2023
In 2023, I had the chance to collaborate with Waddesdon Manor, a stunning and hugely intricate Rothschild House & Garden. They wanted a series of architectural illustrations for their gift shop, so I got to visit this incredible site and soak in its grandeur. I created detailed architectural drawings of the manor and their sculpture, Joana Vasconcelos’ 'Wedding Cake'. My illustrations were turned into a series of prints and cards, and along with a special edition tea towel of the “Wedding Cake”, are available in the Waddesdon Manor gift shop.

Dyffryn Gardens, National Trust - 2020
In partnership with the National Trust, I illustrated the historic Dyffryn Gardens in the Vale of Glamorgan. Collaborating closely with their retail team, I created pen and ink drawings that reflect the historical and architectural beauty of the site. It’s always a treat to see these prints selling well in their gift shop and to revisit the stunning gardens.

Tir Natur - 2024
I recently had the joy of collaborating with Tir Natur, a Welsh rewilding charity, to help visualise their inspiring mission of creating a Wilder Wales. Commissioned to illustrate their marketing brochure, I produced a collection of hand-drawn artwork. Using pens, inks, and watercolours, I aimed to reflect the vibrancy and complexity of rewilded landscapes—depicting everything from ancient oaks and scrubland to ospreys in flight, pine martens in trees, and wild-roaming cattle.

This project was particularly meaningful to me, as it allowed me to unite my passion for conservation with my love of intricate, nature-inspired illustration. Tir Natur is undertaking one of Wales’ most ambitious ecosystem restoration efforts, aiming to rewild over 1,000 acres with freely grazing native breeds and rich biodiversity. It was an honour to help visually tell their story, and I’m grateful for the kind words from Tasha Reilly, Chair of Trustees, who said, “Katherine’s attention to detail is exceptional… Her artwork reflects our mission and values closely, helping to vividly tell our story.”

Beavers in the Landscape - 2024
Partnering with Rewilding Britain and the Knepp Estate, my illustration celebrates the reintroduction of beavers to the UK. These amazing animals are crucial for creating dynamic wetlands that support a diverse range of wildlife. This project highlights the incredible impact beavers have on wetland restoration. The drawing was created for World Rewilding Day 2024 and I donate 20% of every print sold to Rewilding Britain, to support their vital conservation work.

Slimbridge Wetlands & Nature Reserve - 2023
The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust (WWT) commissioned me to illustrate Slimbridge Wetlands & Nature reserve; they asked me to capture the essence of the site. The place is teeming with wildlife, and it was such a joy to illustrate vibrant scenes featuring kingfishers, curlews, flamingos, and swans. The drawings have been turned into a series of cards and prints, and it’s been amazing to see how much people love them.

Brian Iles, Head of Commercial at WWT, shared some lovely feedback:
"Working with Katherine has been an absolute pleasure. She has skilfully captured our historic Slimbridge Wetlands & Nature Reserve site in her detailed drawings and it goes above and beyond my expectations from the brief we gave. Every stage of the work was agreed & delivered on time and the products produced are already being snapped up by our customers. I cannot recommend her work more."

Elmore Court - 2021
In 2021, Elmore Court, a charming Cotswold family home turned wedding venue, asked me to create two beautifully detailed estate maps for their guests. One of the maps included a bottomless swimming lake plus miniature cows – which were fun elements to illustrate. These maps guide visitors through the grounds, capturing the beauty of Elmore Court’s rewilded landscape.
