MEMORY BOXES : STORYTELLING
Do you have a favourite childhood book, or a particular story that’s special to you? My storytelling boxes use objects and handmade elements to bring these stories to life.
I’ve been asked to create a range of pieces, from Roald Dahl classics to the history of the Welsh Industrial Revolution. You can see some examples below. Or please get in touch to talk about your own storytelling box. Find out more about the process and costs here. |
The Box of Delights - based on the book by John Masefield
"Katherine created the box of delights for my wife, Caroline’s birthday. This was her favourite childhood book and I wanted Katherine to bring it to life in her art.
The final product was amazing and the attention to detail was superb. Caroline says it is the most special thing she has ever received because it recreates her favourite book and adds a new dimension to her memories of childhood. Katherine’s attention to detail and communication at every stage made me really feel part of the creative process. It was so exciting to finally see the completed piece and I will never forget my wife’s face on unwrapping this special and unique creation". Mick Alice in Wonderland Boxes
|
Both of these 3D display boxes tell the story of Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass. They do this by depicting key scenes in the stories through objects and artefacts, creating a special memory of the classic children's stories.
Roald Dahl Boxes
|
Each one of these boxes uses objects and pictures to tell a few of Roald Dahl's classic children's stories. These include: Matilda, James and the Giant Peach, Boy, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Fantastic Mr Fox, The Witches, The BFG, Esio Trot and George's Marvellous Medicine.
Welsh Industrial Revolution Boxes
|
These boxes document the Welsh Industrial Revolution. Using a range of curated objects I tell the colourful story of Wales' industrious history. You'll find similar boxes to buy here.
