Cilely Colliery Print
Contemporary "Reimagined" Cilely Colliery Print
My award winning illustration of Cilely Colliery, near Tonyrefail in South Wales is an imaginative recreation of what the colliery would have looked like under ground level.
Cut through the mine, the reimagined drawing shows a cross section of the mine shafts and the relation between the built environment above, and the labyrinth of tunnels below the surface.
Hand-drawn in my Cardiff studio, this illustration serves as a poignant tribute to the coal miners and their contributions to the local community. From the towering pithead winding gear to the rugged wooden structures, each stroke of my fine pen brings to life the intricate architectural elements and machinery that characterised Cilely Colliery.
Every stroke of pen and ink brings to life the intricate architectural elements and machinery that characterised Cilely Colliery. From the towering pithead winding gear to the rugged structures, each detail is thoughtfully crafted to evoke a sense of awe and respect for the mining heritage.
